右遠方の山が、火妨（ひぶせ）の神として信仰を集めた秋葉大権現（あきばだいごんげん）を祀る秋葉山である。
参道は画面の土橋＝大池橋（おおいけばし）を渡った先にある。
出会った僧侶に腰をかがめて礼を尽くす夫婦の向かう先もそこであろう。
凧糸が切れて残念がる童（わらべ）の姿。
その凧が飛んでいく遥かな空に画題の秋葉山がそびえているという趣向。
この地は「遠州凧」が名産品で凧揚げもさかんであった。
五月の風を受けて空に揚がる凧を画面の枠からはみ出して描くことで高さを強調している。
